So you already tried everything:
❌ You were on your phone 15 minutes before 11am, 3pm and 6pm, going in and out of the Battle at the Ministry page, attempting to join the Virtual Line for 2 days straight.
❌ You found spots in the park where your data was giving you the quickest internet possible.
❌ Maybe you were even successful in getting to the spot where you hit +/- a thousand times in hopes for a time slot to pop up on your screen.
❌ Maybe you were lucky enough to stay in that +/- screen for 3-4 hours while you waited for the next drop (my app always eventually kicked me out before we could get to the next drop 🤷🏼♀️
❌ You even asked every team member at Universal, “Is there ANY way to get on this ride? Single rider? just hang out by the entrance of the queue long enough?”
😩 And still, you had zero success.
This was 💯 our story.
Two days into trying to join the Virtual Line, someone had pity on us and gave us this BOLD tip.
✅ Because people join the VL as quickly as possible, many who are successful in getting in the queue have more spots than they need. A party of 3 may have grabbed spots for 4 guests.
✅ Yes, that’s frustrating and disappointing, but instead of just being sad about it (for 2 days, like we were), make it work for you!
✅ This is the part introverts won’t love. I know it’s pitiful, possibly embarrassing, but…desperate times…
✅ Near the entrance of the queue, guests will be arriving with their phones out, ready to show their VL barcode.
✅ Ask them, “Are you in the Virtual Line? Do you have an extra spot?”
✅ If they tell you they don’t have any spots left, let them know that the team members often let ONE extra person come in the group. See if the group will let your party member be that extra person.
✅ If they say they do have an extra spot (or more), ask if they will let your group fill the extra spots plus one.
🧙I guarantee that these groups are eager to help your family if they can. Everyone is in the same boat here. Anyone who was successful in joining the VL knows your frustration and disappointment in not being able to join, and they are so happy and eager to help you get on this ride with them!
🧙Before you come at me about sending a kid with another party, you need to use your own discretion with your family. My kids are comfortable and used to single rider.
🧙Plus, once you’re in the line, you can have the rest of your family join you in the last spot you joined (let the group that brought you be in front of you 👍🏼)
🧙 We sent my Harry-Potter-loving 11 year old first.
🧙 Then we found a group with one extra spot, meaning they really had two spaces, so I sent my 13 year old daughter and 8 year old son with them.
🧙 Then I was right after them with another group that could accommodate me.
🧙If you’ve been following along in stories, you know there’s more to this story. After sending my son into the queue, the ride broke down…for the rest of the night… 😩 so maybe don’t wait until 7pm to try this out.
🧙We had some magic and were able to ride the next day, but that’s a story for another day.
